Funding

The AHRC Culture and the Mind project gratefully acknowledges the sponsorship of the UK Arts & Humanities Research Council, provided through a major research grant of £538,000 to Project Director Stephen Laurence.

The AHRC funds postgraduate training and research in the arts and humanities, from archaeology and English literature to design and dance. The quality and range of research supported not only provides social and cultural benefits but also contributes to the economic success of the UK.

This grant provides the majority of funding for the project. However, the project also gratefully acknowledges the support of the University of Sheffield's Hang Seng Centre for Cognitive Studies and Rutgers University's Research Group on Evolution and Higher Cognition who provide additional funding for the project.

University of Sheffield's Hang Seng Centre for Cognitive Studies was established to promote productive collaborative research between philosophy, psychology, and allied disciplines.

The Rutgers University Research Group on Evolution and Higher Cognition was established to investigate the mechanisms involved in a range of higher cognitive capacities and to explore ways in which theoretical and empirical work on the evolution of the mind can interface productively with more traditional approaches to theory construction in cognitive science.
